Travellers aged 10 or older can learn to swim with a monofin, somersault underwater and blow mermaid bubbles, as well as mastering the basics of breath holding, a technique used by free divers.
PADI launched its Mermaid Course in 2022, hoping to introduce aquaphiles to the underwater world in a whole new way. Slate-coloured rocks jut from foamy surf, olive-tree bluffs slope into the distance and an amber sun burns bright.
